Teak Shower Stool FAQ

Can you keep a teak stool in the shower?

Yes. Teak is a dense hardwood with natural oils that make it naturally water-resistant, which is why it is used on boat decks and in saunas. Our teak shower stools are made to stay in the shower full time.

Do teak shower seats get moldy?

Teak resists mold and rot better than most woods, and slatted seats let water drain and the wood air dry quickly. Like any surface in a wet bathroom, rinse it now and then and wash it with mild soap if soap scum builds up.

Is teak or bamboo better for a shower stool?

Bamboo is a grass, so bamboo stools are usually strips glued together, and constant water can work on that glue over time. Solid teak has no laminated layers to separate. Read our teak vs bamboo comparison.

What size teak shower stool do I need?

Measure the open floor of your shower and leave room to stand. An 18 inch teak shower stool fits most standard showers; a 21 inch stool gives more seat in a walk-in. For larger showers, see our 24 to 30 inch teak shower benches.
